How we rank
A $0 premium plan isn’t free if a hospital stay costs you $9,850. So we add a year of plan premiums to the plan’s in-network out-of-pocket maximum: the most you could pay for covered medical care in a bad year. Lower is better; ties go to the lower premium. The Part B premium is the same for every plan and drug costs are capped separately at $2,400, so neither changes the order. Full methodology.
The ranking is a starting point. Networks, drug coverage and extra benefits differ by plan and matter as much as cost. Check your doctors and prescriptions in the Medicare Plan Finder before you enroll. Free one-on-one help: your State Health Insurance Assistance Program.
