Cheapest Medigap Plan G and Plan N in Vermont
Plan G from one insurer covers exactly what Plan G from any other covers, so price is the main difference. We rank every insurer in Vermont’s official rate guide by its yearly premium at 65.
What these rates are. Monthly premiums from the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation’s rate sheet: one premium per insurer and plan for people 65 and older (and a separate under-65 rate for people with Medicare because of a disability), with each insurer’s rate effective date. The sheet doesn’t split rates by age or sex. Some insurers sell directly, others only through an agent, and premiums can vary by how you pay. Source: the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation, October 2026 rate sheet, posted October 23, 2026. Rates change during the year and your quote depends on your age, ZIP code, health and when you apply, so treat this as a shortlist and get quotes.

Plans with membership or eligibility limits
These plans appear in the Vermont guide but aren’t open to every resident (for example, AARP plans require AARP membership) or are Medicare SELECT plans with a provider network, so we list them as published instead of ranking them.

How we rank
We take each insurer’s premium for Plan G and Plan N at 65 straight from Vermont’s official guide and multiply monthly premiums by 12 to get the yearly cost. Each insurer appears once, at its best published rate class that isn’t a tobacco rate. Lower ranks higher; ties go to the lower premium at 75 where the guide shows it, then the insurer’s name. We don’t estimate, round or adjust any premium. Full methodology.
The cheapest policy at 65 isn’t always the cheapest later. An attained-age policy goes up as you get older, an issue-age policy is priced on your age when you buy, and a community-rated policy charges everyone the same. How the three methods compare.
Before you buy: get a written quote from the insurer, ask how its rates have risen, and check Medicare.gov’s Medigap policy search. Your State Health Insurance Assistance Program gives free, unbiased help. Buying during your Medigap Open Enrollment Period means insurers can’t turn you down or charge more for health problems.
Questions
What is the cheapest Medigap Plan G in Vermont?
In the rate guide from the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation (October 2026 rate sheet, posted October 23, 2026), the lowest Plan G premium at 65 and older from an insurer open to all applicants is: AFLAC, $2,352.36 a year ($196.03 a month).
