How we rank
We take each insurer’s premium for Plan G and Plan N at 65 straight from Idaho’s official guide and multiply monthly premiums by 12 to get the yearly cost. Each insurer appears once, at its best published rate class that isn’t a tobacco rate. Lower ranks higher; ties go to the lower premium at 75 where the guide shows it, then the insurer’s name. We don’t estimate, round or adjust any premium. Full methodology.
The cheapest policy at 65 isn’t always the cheapest later. An attained-age policy goes up as you get older, an issue-age policy is priced on your age when you buy, and a community-rated policy charges everyone the same. How the three methods compare.
Before you buy: get a written quote from the insurer, ask how its rates have risen, and check Medicare.gov’s Medigap policy search. Your State Health Insurance Assistance Program gives free, unbiased help. Buying during your Medigap Open Enrollment Period means insurers can’t turn you down or charge more for health problems.
Questions
What is the cheapest Medigap Plan G in Idaho?
In the rate guide from the Idaho Department of Insurance (SHIBA) (current update October 8, 2026), the lowest Plan G premium at 65 and older from an insurer open to all applicants is: First Health Life & Health Ins Co, $2,547 a year ($212.25 a month). Your own quote depends on your age, ZIP code, health and the date you apply.
What is the cheapest Medigap Plan N in Idaho?
State Farm Mutual Auto Ins Co, $1,906.92 a year ($158.91 a month). Plan N has copays of up to $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for emergency room visits and doesn’t cover Part B excess charges, which is why it usually costs less than Plan G.
How much do Plan G premiums vary between insurers in Idaho?
Plan G benefits are the same from every insurer, but in this guide the yearly premium at 65 runs from $2,547 to $3,776.52. Insurers also price future increases differently (attained-age, issue-age or community-rated), so compare the older-age premiums too where they’re shown.
Where do these Idaho Medigap rates come from?
From the Idaho Department of Insurance (SHIBA): “Idaho Medicare Supplement Plans: Monthly Standard Premium Rates for 65+ (Non-Smoker and Smoker)” (current update October 8, 2026). We copy the premiums exactly as published and rank them; we don’t estimate or adjust them.
